Introducing… The Meseta

The Meseta has a reputation along the Camino. Flat, hot, and arid, the farmlands of the Meseta are famous for being mentally and physically challenging for pilgrims. That’s especially true on long, treeless summer days where the sun beats down relentlessly.

Luckily for us, the Meseta has been pretty mild! We just completed our third full day of it, and the cold and the wind have been MUCH more problematic than the heat.

In fact, during our very first hours of the Camino, I looked like this:

So, for the time being, we’ll count our blessings that the Meseta has been a bit friendlier than we expected. And, in the meantime, we’ll keep enjoying views like these:
